Wyclef Jean Returns With Cinematic “Back From Abu Dhabi” Video With French Montana & Rick Ross

Another big name back in the music game.

Nostalgic hip-hop legend Wyclef Jean has released the cinematic music video for his comeback single “Back From Abu Dhabi,” featuring French Montana and Rick Ross, directed by acclaimed actress and filmmaker Tasha Smith.

This marks Wyclef’s first full return to the rap space in more than a decade — a genre where his journey originally began.

Filmed across his New Jersey stomping grounds, the video seamlessly merges high-fashion aesthetics with raw city grit, connecting the scenic beauty of Abu Dhabi with the textured backdrop of Camden.

The timing of this comeback couldn’t be more fitting: the release arrives just ahead of the 30th anniversary of the Fugees’ iconic album The Score this February, and renewed attention on Wyclef’s global smash with Shakira, “Hips Don’t Lie.”

French Montana and Rick Ross appear throughout the video, adding star power and presence to the already stacked collaboration.

Under Tasha Smith’s direction, the visual takes on a cinematic tone, amplifying the track’s grand, larger-than-life energy.

Wyclef’s return feels both nostalgic and fresh — a reminder of his legacy and a preview of what’s to come. We’re excited to see where he takes things next.
