Can Ye’s upcoming album “BULLY” push him past Drake in the streaming race?
Ye has officially earned 1 billion streams on Spotify in 2026. The only other rapper to do this is his frienemy Drake.
One reason this number is so remarkable is because of what many consider Ye’s prime era. Much of his best work was released before streaming services dominated the industry, including The College Dropout, Late Registration, and Graduation. That makes this achievement even more impressive. It suggests that listeners are revisiting his older catalog in large numbers. Nearly 20 years after its release, Graduation remains one of the most streamed hip-hop albums available. It also contains the most billion-stream tracks in his catalog, including “Flashing Lights,” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” and “Stronger.” Imagine if Graduation came out in the 2020s… It might have garnered even more streams.
So what is next for Ye? BULLY, which is set to release in March. If the album performs as expected, he could potentially challenge Drake for the top streaming spot in hip-hop. I doubt it, but you never know.
