I’m glad the YNs are finally getting a chance to appreciate Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson’s Thriller, which is undeniably in the conversation for the greatest album ever made, is reportedly aiming for a top 15 re-entry on the Billboard 200 following the release buzz surrounding the Michael film, according to HITS Daily Double.
Across streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, Michael’s numbers have been climbing again. A new generation is discovering him, while older fans are revisiting music that never really left rotation. Even his overrated “Scream” track with Janet is getting love.
And let’s be honest, most people have heard at least half of Thriller, whether they realize it or not. The album houses monsters like “Billie Jean,” “Thriller,” and “Beat It,” songs that became cultural landmarks. Real ones also know deeper gems like “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),” “Human Nature,” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.”
Released in 1982, Thriller did more than dominate charts. It reshaped pop music, music videos, and global celebrity culture. It became the best-selling album of all time, with estimated worldwide sales exceeding 70 million copies and certifications that include multi-platinum and diamond honors in numerous markets.
So if Thriller jumps back into the top 15 now, that is just bonus territory. The game was already won decades ago.
