Drake may finally be addressing LeBron’s “Not Like Us” moments publicly.
As expected, Drake is not letting anything slide heading into ICEMAN. A newly surfaced leak from the album, reportedly titled “1AM in Albany,” features what sounds like a direct shot at LeBron James.
On the track, Drake raps:
“I shouldn’t even be shocked to see you in that arena, because you always made your career off of switching teams up. Please stop asking what’s going on with 23 & me, I’m a real n****, and he’s not, it’s in my DNA”
The line instantly sparked reactions online, with many assuming the Toronto rapper is addressing LeBron’s perceived disloyalty during Drake’s very public feud with Kendrick Lamar. During that entire saga, Drake not only had to deal with diss tracks from several artists, but also watched some of his longtime celebrity and NBA friends seemingly side with Kendrick by vibing out to “Not Like Us.”
LeBron was one of the names fans kept bringing up, especially after clips surfaced of him publicly enjoying the song despite its harsh accusations toward Drake. DeMar DeRozan also caught attention during the beef for his visible support of Kendrick.
At this point, none of this should surprise anyone. From the moment ICEMAN was announced, people labeled it as Drake’s revenge tour. If this leak is any indication, the album could be packed with sneak disses, cold shoulders, and plenty of bars aimed at people Drake feels switched sides when things got ugly.
With ICEMAN expected to arrive tomorrow, anticipation is officially at a boiling point. Since that’s the case, let’s make plenty of tea!
