5. Can’t Let This Go

I really loved the energy of this track. Jocelyn Kennedy taps into real-world and political issues in a way that feels thoughtful instead of preachy. The song constantly shifts sounds and moods, yet still comes together cohesively. You never fully know where it’s headed next, and that unpredictability is what makes it so captivating. The abstract production and lyricism give the track a unique edge while keeping it emotionally grounded.

4. Anger Breathes/ My Love Song

This track honestly made me feel hopeful, especially during the second half. There’s a strong sense of nostalgia woven throughout, almost like looking back on simpler and more innocent times.

“My Love Song” touches on peace, friendship, and parents not fighting, ideas that may sound small on paper but carry real emotional weight. The song feels like dreaming about a better world while still understanding the flaws of the current one. There’s a steady “light at the end of the tunnel” feeling running through it that makes the track emotional without becoming overly heavy.

3. Know Ya

“Know Ya” slows the album down and leans much more into R&B and soul influences. It feels funky, emotional, and very old school in the best way possible. The instrumentation really shines here, especially the horn sections and live sounding elements layered throughout the track. It adds warmth and personality to the song that makes it stand apart from the rest of the project. Lyrically, it taps into romance and vulnerability, bringing a softer and more pleading dynamic that gives the album even more range.

2. Pace

The chorus on this track immediately grabbed me. It is extremely catchy, and the contrast between the melodic hook and the harder rap verses works really well. Beneath that accessible surface, the verses address serious topics. Jocelyn Kennedy touches on issues across the country, human rights concerns, and questions that often feel ignored or left unanswered. The balance between catchiness and substance is one of the strongest aspects of the song.

1. Dangerous Times

This is one of the more stripped-back and emotionally raw moments on the album. The track leans into a softer indie sound, placing emotion at the forefront. It explores uncertainty, focusing on navigating difficult and unpredictable times while trying to maintain a sense of stability.

At the same time, there’s a romantic undertone running through it. Even with the fear and confusion present, there’s comfort in having someone beside you through it all. It comes across as sweet, vulnerable, and genuinely touching.

RGM RATING

(75%)

Flow constantly shifts between sounds, moods, and styles in a way that feels intentional and natural. Hip-hop serves as the foundation, with indie, soul, funk, and R&B influences woven throughout, giving the project a fresh, distinctive feel.

What makes the album stand out most is its honesty. Jocelyn Kennedy is not afraid to address difficult subjects, including politics, human rights, generational trauma, and emotional healing—topics many artists tend to avoid. Even with these heavier themes, the music maintains a sense of warmth and humanity.

The lyricism feels vulnerable and personal, yet still broad enough to connect with different listeners. There is clear passion in the writing, but also restraint and patience, with nothing feeling forced or overdone.

Flow sits between nostalgia and modern influence, drawing on older sounds while still developing its own identity. It is thoughtful, emotionally rich, and the kind of album that encourages focused listening from start to finish.
