RayXO Balances Smooth Vocals And Jersey Club Energy In “Need You Now”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

RayXØ sounds completely comfortable experimenting outside of traditional R&B lanes on “Need You Now.”

RayXO refuses to box himself into one sound, and that’s probably his biggest strength. The dude can flat-out sing, but what makes him interesting is how willing he is to experiment with different styles and production choices. On “Need You Now,” he jumps on top of a Jersey Club beat and gives it exactly the kind of emotion it needs.

The instrumental has a slick, hypnotic bounce to it, balancing sensuality with enough energy to shake up a room full of people two drinks deep. RayXO matches that vibe perfectly, delivering vocals filled with longing and urgency while sounding completely consumed by the person he’s singing about.

Overall, “Need You Now” feels like the perfect collision between smooth R&B and party music. You may have to inject this s**t through my veins.
