Drake might need his own separate Billboard chart at this point.
Drake continues stacking Billboard records at a pace that feels almost routine now. This week, the Toronto artist officially charts twelve albums simultaneously on the Billboard 200 for the first time in his career, setting the record for the most concurrent entries by a living soloist and by any hip-hop artist in history.
Only two acts have ever charted more albums at once on the Billboard 200: Prince with 19 and The Beatles with 13. Drake now sits third overall with 12 simultaneous entries, ahead of Taylor Swift’s 11.
A huge reason for the accomplishment is the massive impact of his latest releases: ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR. All three projects debuted inside the top three this week, with ICEMAN leading the charge at No. 1. However, what makes the record especially notable is the continued staying power of Drake’s older catalog.
Projects like Take Care continue to perform at a high level more than a decade after release, while last year’s collaborative effort $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PARTYNEXTDOOR remains active in streaming conversations. Drake’s versatility, consistency, and nonstop output continue to separate him from most of his peers in the streaming era.
