Blxst and Sasha Keable Reflect on Relationship Struggles in “Ruin”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

As the release date for Labor Of Love gets closer, Blxst continues to give listeners a glimpse into what the project might sound like. His latest single, “Ruin,” pairs him with Sasha Keable for a duet centered on relationship struggles, emotional distance, and the consequences of letting problems linger for too long.

The song’s production leans into a relaxed R&B sound. Bombastic horns, subtle jazz influences, and a steady rhythm help create a smooth listening experience from start to finish. The instrumental is pleasant throughout, though it occasionally feels like it could use a stronger punch during key moments.

Thematically, “Ruin” examines how relationships can deteriorate when communication breaks down. Both artists describe a situation where a temporary disconnect grows into something larger, creating tension where there was once stability.

Blxst delivers exactly what listeners have come to expect from him. His vocals are smooth, controlled, and effortlessly melodic. Sasha Keable complements him well, bringing a more passionate approach that highlights her range and soulful delivery. The contrast between their performances gives the song much of its appeal.

Blxst sounds the same on a bunch of tracks, but I’m down to listen to him all the time.
