“BIG MAMA” got herself a BIG win this week.
Latto appears to be heading toward the strongest opening week of her career. According to projections from Hits Daily Double, her latest album, BIG MAMA, is expected to debut around No. 16 on the Billboard 200 with nearly 33,000 album-equivalent units earned during its first week.
While the projected chart position is slightly lower than some of her previous releases, the unit total tells a different story. Sugar Honey Iced Tea debuted at No. 14 in 2024 with roughly 29,000 first-week units, while 777 opened at No. 15 in 2022 with approximately 15,000 units. If current projections hold, BIG MAMA will become the highest-selling first-week release of Latto’s career.
The album arrives as one of Latto’s more personal projects to date. The cover artwork, which features the rapper while pregnant, immediately sparked conversation among fans. Musically, listeners have gravitated toward tracks such as “Business and Personal” and the album’s intro, while “Hostage,” featuring 21 Savage, has emerged as one of the project’s strongest-performing songs.
With four major projects now in her catalog, you can say Latto is a big dawg in the game. Let’s just hope her retirement talk from a few weeks ago was a joke.
