LeBron James Reveals He’s Listening To J. Cole’s “The Fall-Off” Right Now, Not “ICEMAN”

Leave Bron alone, man. He’s just going through a brief phase as a biased music fan.

LeBron James doesn’t just dominate headlines on the basketball court. Every now and then, his music opinions generate almost as much discussion as his performances.

While speaking with TIME following his inclusion on the TIME100 Sports list as Athlete of the Century, LeBron was asked a simple question about what he’s currently listening to. His response was straightforward: J. Cole’s The Fall-Off.

According to LeBron, the entire album is in rotation for him.

Normally, that would be the end of the conversation. Cole dropped one of the biggest rap albums of the year, and LeBron has been publicly supportive of his music for years.

But this isn’t a normal rap year.

The comment immediately caught the attention of Drake fans because of the ongoing tension between LeBron and the Toronto superstar. While ICEMAN continues to dominate streaming platforms and the Billboard charts, LeBron didn’t mention it at all.

Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. LeBron has always had diverse musical tastes and has shown appreciation for artists across the spectrum.

Still, when one of the biggest athletes in history publicly highlights The Fall-Off while ICEMAN continues its chart run, people are naturally going to speculate. Whether fans like it or not, that’s how modern music discourse works.
