Rapsody Releases “God Gotta Afro” Featuring Karabo yaMorena Choir

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Rapsody previews her upcoming album with the powerful and imagery-filled single “God Gotta Afro.”

There’s no question that God Gotta Afro & Gold Hoops is one of the projects I’m most excited to hear. Rapsody has consistently delivered some of the strongest lyricism in rap, and her new single, “God Gotta Afro,” only heightens the anticipation for the album.

The song features booming production with a clear old-school influence. There’s a b-boy spirit running through the beat, while some of the sound effects make it feel like someone used empty Coke bottles to help put it together.

Over that backdrop, Rapsody focuses on themes of confidence, self-worth, and pride in her Black identity. She sounds completely locked in, delivering witty punchlines, polished flows, and a performance full of conviction.

Midway through the track, the beat shifts and introduces vocals from the Karabo yaMorena Choir. The transition works well, adding a fresh dynamic without taking attention away from Rapsody’s verses.

What makes “God Gotta Afro” work is its balance of strong production, focused messaging, and confident rapping. It’s an energetic introduction to God Gotta Afro & Gold Hoops and a track that should appeal to fans of hip-hop’s foundational elements.
