Fat Joe, Yung Miami & Jadakiss Connect For “Victory Lap (HIM)”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

I needed more Jada than Miami here, but it’s cool.

If you’ve watched any NBA Finals game lately, chances are you’ve seen Fat Joe. As the New York Knicks continue their dominant run against the San Antonio Spurs, the diehard Knicks fan has become a regular fixture on broadcasts thanks to his front-row seat. Keeping the momentum going, Joe has returned with a new song called “Victory Lap (HIM),” which might end up becoming the unofficial anthem for New York’s Finals run.

“Victory Lap (HIM)” boldly flips Diddy’s iconic “Victory” beat, updating it with trap-inspired drums and modern energy. Fat Joe sounds right at home over the production, delivering his trademark confidence as he pats himself on the back, calls out snitches, and reminds listeners that he’s still thriving.

Yung Miami appears throughout the track with a handful of unapologetic bars that bring plenty of attitude. While she certainly adds personality to the record, her contribution feels somewhat random within the song’s overall theme. On the other hand, the sample-driven hook is incredibly catchy and gives the track the anthem-like quality it’s clearly aiming for.

Jadakiss makes the most of his limited time, delivering a sharp verse filled with the kind of confidence and precision fans have come to expect from him. His contribution feels impactful enough to leave you wanting more. While the song works well as a whole, I think it would’ve benefited from a longer Jadakiss appearance. Regardless, “Victory Lap (HIM)” is an enjoyable record that successfully captures a championship mindset.
