Rick Ross & T.I. Bring Veteran Swagger to “Mahogany Caskets”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The s**t-talking between Ross and T.I. on this track is elite.

Rick Ross and T.I. are back together on “Mahogany Caskets,” a larger-than-life collaboration that feels tailor-made for fans who miss rap records centered around status, success, and elite-level flexing.

The track arrives as Rick Ross continues building momentum toward his upcoming album, Set In Stone, which is expected to arrive in July. While plenty of today’s rap records prioritize trends and viral moments, “Mahogany Caskets” sounds committed to something different: veteran rappers reminding everyone why they’ve lasted so long.

The production plays a major role in the song’s appeal. It hits hard, shifts gears throughout, and contains just enough catchiness to keep listeners engaged. More importantly, it creates the perfect backdrop for two artists who still know how to command a record.

Ross takes his time with a measured flow, delivering bars about needing more women than Stefon Diggs, running with steppers, and maintaining the hunger that helped make him a rap superstar. T.I. matches the energy, confidently reflecting on his accomplishments while making it clear that he’s still prepared to go toe-to-toe with anyone who questions him.

“Mahogany Caskets” may not sound modern, but that’s part of its charm. The rapping is sharp, the chemistry is natural, and the overall product is simply enjoyable.
