Hit-Boy Releases “HITstory 2: Success Is A Dirty Word” After Becoming Independent

Hit-Boy starts a new chapter with complete creative freedom.

Hit-Boy has reached a major milestone in his career.

After spending 18 years under a publishing agreement that began when he was 19, the acclaimed producer is now officially independent. To mark the occasion, he has released a new album titled HITstory 2: Success Is A Dirty Word.

The project was released directly through Hit-Boy’s website on Saturday, highlighting the freedom he now has as an independent artist. Rather than relying on a traditional release strategy, he chose to deliver the music straight to his supporters.

HITstory 2: Success Is A Dirty Word features 17 tracks and includes contributions from Ab-Soul, Ty Dolla $ign, Quavo, James Fauntleroy, and Dom Kennedy. The guest list brings together artists from different corners of hip-hop and R&B, helping round out the project.

Hit-Boy’s influence on modern rap is already well established through his production work, but he has consistently expanded his profile as a performer and recording artist. This latest release serves as another entry in that journey and represents a new level of independence.

With his publishing obligations behind him, Hit-Boy is entering a new phase of his career on his own terms. You have to respect that.
