Kanye West Faces San Antonio Cancellation Call Over “Bully” Tour Controversy

Kanye West is racking up cancellations.

Kanye West’s comeback campaign for his new album, Bully, continues to face global resistance, with the latest controversy emerging in San Antonio, Texas. Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones has publicly called for the cancellation of his scheduled Independence Day performance at the Alamodome, intensifying scrutiny around the tour.

In her statement on X, Jones emphasized that a publicly funded venue should not provide a platform for an artist associated with antisemitic rhetoric and hate speech, particularly on July 4th. She framed the issue as one of civic responsibility and values, linking it to broader efforts to confront antisemitism.

The situation follows a string of international cancellations that have disrupted West’s planned tour. In the United Kingdom, his Wireless Festival appearances were canceled after he was blocked from entering the country, a decision later supported by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to countering antisemitism.

In Switzerland, a scheduled concert at St. Jakob-Park was also scrapped after FC Basel stated the event conflicted with its institutional values. Poland followed with another cancellation, citing legal concerns and strong opposition from cultural authorities who condemned West’s previous remarks.

A separate performance in Marseille, France, has been postponed indefinitely. With mounting resistance across multiple countries and now within the United States, the future of Kanye West’s Bully tour remains uncertain.
