Can you believe Rick Ross hasn’t dropped a project since 2021?

Rick Ross is officially entering a new chapter. The Miami boss has announced his upcoming album Set In Stone, arriving Friday, marking his first solo album since 2021’s Richer Than I Ever Been and his first full-length release since teaming up with Meek Mill on Too Good To Be True.

According to Billboard, the project features a stacked guest list that includes Don Toliver, BigXthaPlug, Kodak Black, Leon Thomas, T.I., Gucci Mane, and Jeezy.

Let’s keep it honest: Rick Ross is probably far removed from the peak years of his career. When looking strictly at his solo albums, 2017’s Rather You Than Me was arguably the last project where he delivered a consistently strong album from beginning to end. Some of his releases since then haven’t carried the same cultural impact or commercial momentum that defined his earlier run.

However, counting Ross out would be a mistake. The man can still rap. His verse on “Everyday Hustle” showed he still has the ability to deliver sharp, confident bars, and while “Champagne Moments,” his Drake diss, had moments that felt a little blah, the actual rapping was still there.

With a combination of Southern legends, rising stars, and longtime collaborators, Set In Stone has the ingredients to be a statement piece from one of rap’s most recognizable bosses. Now it’s time to see if Ross can turn the stone back into gold.
