Lil Baby has gone 2/2 this summer.
One of the best tandems in hip-hop is Lil Baby and Rylo Rodriguez. Not only do I feel like their styles complement each other extremely well, but both of their styles are also extremely relevant to what’s poppin’ today. Victor Victor must’ve known what I knew because he decided to bring them together for one of the tracks from his upcoming project Il Caos Parte 1.
“Grind Time” features a dark trap beat that sounds like some s**t that would play during a scene in Nightmare On Elm Street where the good guys finally figure out how to whoop him. Lil Baby hits us with a raw verse where he plays father to his competition, talks about his love for hustling, and continues to show that he knows how to move through the streets. He also delivers an off-kilter chorus that I thought was fantastic (Lil Baby is unguardable when he’s offbeat).
Rylo Rodriguez slides in with a fantastic verse that fits the vibe of the production perfectly, delivering lyrics about the legal and illegal ways he’s made his money. To me, the collaboration is perfect. It just feels like something people who know they are on fire would make.

Quincy is the creator of Ratings Game Music. He loves writing about music, taking long walks on beaches, and spaghetti that fights him back.
