Markello Gets Vulnerable on New Single “I Don’t Think I Can”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

An emotionally charged indie-pop confession about trying to become enough for someone you love.

Markello is back with a new single called “I Don’t Think I Can,” and if you’ve been following him, you already know he has one hell of a voice. He’s also a meaningful writer with the kind of commercial appeal that could make him a very interesting name for playlists.

In “I Don’t Think I Can,” Markello gets real about trying his hardest to become the person someone special needs him to be. What I like most is how genuine everything feels. You can hear the pain in his voice, the frustration, and the effort he’s putting into trying to make things work, all while still giving us a melody that actually sticks.

The production, handled by LSX Beats, creates this reflective and soothing atmosphere that gives Markello plenty of room to speak his mind. I also like how the track blends indie rock, boom bap/hip-hop, and pop influences without sounding like it’s desperately trying to be everything at once.

“I Don’t Think I Can” is the first release from Markello’s upcoming debut EP, with “Paranoid” and “Underground” following as part of the rollout. It’s an honest, pleasant listen that could definitely have you running it back.
