I knew this project was going to be serious the moment I saw Kenny Beats’ full name spelled out in the song title.
Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats are back like they never left in “DIFFERENCE,” the first single from their upcoming album ii. And based on the way it sounds, they still have that magic.
The production is easily my favorite part. Kenny gives the track this frantic, layered energy that immediately made me think of scrambling to grab everything you need before running out the door to catch the school bus. I just love how chaotic that s**t sounds.
Denzel rides that energy perfectly, attacking the beat with confident flows and plenty of aggression. Then Yebba comes through with this dreamy chorus that gives the track a completely different texture. All three elements work together without stepping on each other.
I’m a major fan of this one because everyone gets their moment to shine in a very unique way. It’s a pretty damn good taste of what Denzel and Kenny have cooking on ii. I’ll be there August 24th.
