A grungy street anthem about hustling, getting paid, and making sure nobody gets comfortable owing Marley G.
Marley G is as real as it gets when it comes to rappers. There’s absolutely no fluff in his bars, and he usually spits about some real s**t every chance he gets. Recently, he dropped a new single called “Forgive Me,” and it’s easily one of his toughest records.
“Forgive Me” features hard-hitting street production with an underlying royal feel that makes the track sound larger than life. Marley G steps right into that atmosphere and sounds completely comfortable.
Lyrically, he’s talking about being a hustler, being a dude who doesn’t take any nonsense, and putting some bad chicks through mattresses. He also makes it very clear that he’s the wrong person to owe, so pay him back expeditiously, please.
Despite the grungy energy, Marley G surprises you with a memorable and catchy chorus. His verses are just as effective, with a delivery that keeps the production on a leash instead of allowing the beat to overpower him.
As a true hip-hop fan, this is the kind of s**t that resonates with me. Marley G knows exactly what lane he belongs in, and he rides in it with conviction.
