I wonder how far he might have gone if he had not been shot in 2012. We will never know, but “2012” makes it clear that the tragedy did not stop him from becoming elite.
Produced by Wun Two, the track runs on a simple, gentle instrumental with a hip-hop knock and the gritty atmosphere Conway thrives over. He revisits the day he was shot in the neck, the permanent facial paralysis that followed, and the pain he still carries more than a decade later. However, the song is not built around pity.
