Kirk Franklin is back with the gospel hype on “This Time,” and with GloRilla joining the party, we’re feeling all the gospel hype. The track is an energetic reminder that no matter what struggles you’re going through or what challenges you’re facing every day, you’re going to be okay. You will get back up, you will thrive, and you are still in control of your situation. Sometimes life gets messy, but that doesn’t mean the story ends there.
GloRilla’s feature on the track was definitely unexpected, but honestly, the energy match is perfect. Glo absolutely understood the assignment and brought her signature vibe to an already high-energy track. Her feature may be short, but it is impactful, adding another layer of personality and attitude without taking away from Kirk’s message.
Overall, I think “This Time” is a really solid single. I have always admired the way Kirk Franklin modernizes gospel and helps the genre evolve throughout generations without losing its heart. He knows how to make faith feel current, energetic, and accessible, and this track is another example of that.
“This Time” is uplifting, catchy, and packed with enough energy to have you praising and dancing at the same time. Sunday service is about to be extra lit.
