Cardi B’s Tiny Desk Concert premieres October 19, giving fans a chance to hear her catalog in an intimate setting.
Cardi B has a Tiny Desk Concert on the way, with the circulating announcement placing its premiere on October 19 at 12 p.m. ET. That’s tomorrow, so cancel all of your plans for tomorrow (Including brushing your teeth if you’re on the West Coast like me).
This is an interesting one. Cardi’s records have enough confidence and character to command a big room. Hearing her bring that same presence into a smaller setting could make for an entertaining performance, especially if the arrangements give us something unexpected.
We don’t have a confirmed song list in the announcement shared. Will she focus on the obvious crowd favorites, spotlight newer music, or find room for both? I’d love a selection that shows how well her catalog can work beyond its original production.
I also hope we get some conversation. Cardi has never needed an elaborate setup to be funny, and the audience being close enough to catch every comment could make those breaks memorable. Somebody at that desk is probably going to have trouble keeping a straight face.
The biggest thing, though, is how she sounds once the music starts. Personality gets me interested; a strong performance can make her a legend.
We’ll see what Cardi brings when the concert premieres tomorrow at noon ET.
