Dame Dash Says JAY-Z Shouldn’t Call Him for Super Bowl Halftime Show

Who’s going to tell Dame?

Dame Dash has ruled himself out of JAY-Z’s Super Bowl halftime show before anybody has publicly ruled him in.

During an interview with The Art of Dialogue, Dash said he wouldn’t participate if asked. The comments arrive as fans speculate about which collaborators might join Hov for his February 14, 2027 performance.

Dash’s criticism goes beyond his own attendance. He questioned how effectively JAY-Z could celebrate his musical history without involving the wider team associated with his rise. As a comparison, he referenced Dr. Dre’s ensemble halftime performance.

He also predicted an appearance from Beyoncé, then questioned whether relying on familiar guests would deliver enough impact. No announcement establishing her participation was identified in the reporting reviewed.

Elsewhere, Dash argued that a disappointing Super Bowl performance could damage an artist’s reputation. He also praised Kanye West’s stadium appearances while criticizing the response to JAY-Z’s shows, presenting a particularly skeptical view of Hov’s current live presence.

Look, Dame Dash makes some valid points. If this is a celebration of JAY-Z’s career, Dame and the rest of the Roc-A-Fella crew are part of that story. Still, I suspect most people watching halftime care more about getting a great performance than a complete history lesson. Unfortunately for Dame, the strongest version of that show probably doesn’t include him.

Dash clearly wants the conversation centered on legacy and who helped create it. Whether JAY-Z approaches the performance that way remains to be seen. For now, the only appearance Dash has confirmed is his absence.
