Just when you thought Dipset’s Jim Jones was starting to slow down, he releases the Heatmakerz produced album titled “El Capo.” It features sixteen tracks full of great features (Including Jadakiss, Cam’ron, Fabolous, Rick Ross and Dave East), fire ass beats and hood-inspired content you can’t ignore. While Jim has clearly lost a step rapping-wise, he does still have some appeal to his artistry. (more…)

Trey Songz – 11.28 (Album Review)

Whenever Trey Songz decides to hang up the mic, he will go down as one of the most successful singers of his era. I feel like for my generation, he broke down barriers, ushering in a style of R&B music that meshed pretty well with trendy hip hop. At the age of 34, I still think he has a couple of good years left in him, and with the release of “11/28,” a double-disc/star-studded project, it seems music execs and his peers think so, too. Dave East – Karma 2 (Album Review)

You know what I love about Dave East? He comes across like a lovable bad guy. Yes, he’s shot his gun plenty of times, talks about moving weight and treating chicks like objects, but he does it in a way that is so authentic, you can’t help but respect it. In “Karma 2,” I expect more of the same from the Harlem rapper, as he continues to balance commercial success with his hard-to-leave-behind street ties. (more…)
