DJ Kay Slay – Cold Summer (Ft. Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller, Kevin Gates & Rell) (Review & Stream)

Mac Miller, Kevin Gates and Kendrick Lamar on a song together must mean Christmas came early to us.

DJ Kay Slay is more than capable of gathering some hip hop artists to make a song, but I think more on the B/C-List level; Kendrick, Mac, and Kevin are all no less than B Listers in the game right now (Rell is probably a F-Lister though).

Kendrick starts the song off, and his verse is mailed in like my DNA results for that unknown child (Joking). I didn’t expect him to put up a astronomical verse here, so I’m not surprised at all.

Mac Miller sounds a lot like Wiz Khalifa on this song right? Anyway, I do not like his approach on the track, as he sounds a little too flossy for my liking.

Kevin Gates has the last verse, and his passion probably fits the track the most. Gates’ gutter approach on his verse is perfect for the song, as he delivers this inspired performance that serves as a short bio to his life.

This song is very lackluster to me.

OVERALL RATING (3.8/5)
