I had no clue XXXTENTACION was capable of speaking patois.
Damnit, I miss the s**t out of XXXTENTACION! In my opinion, he was one of the most versatile artists in the game. With that being said, in “Royalty,” the fallen musician dabbles in Reggae music — a sound I had no clue he had in his arsenal. Thankfully, X succeeds by giving us some tough ass lyrics mixed with an authentic Jamaican accent on the song.
Vybz Kartel, Stefflon Don & Ky-Mani Marley all contribute to “Royalty,” delivering verses and hooks that are gritty and unapologetic when it comes to bossing up. Do I think they were the brightest spot on this song? No, but they were important to the grand scheme of things.
There will be a day in which no more new XXXTENTACION tracks will be released… Hopefully his estate can stretch his unreleased music out these next couple of years like they did Pac’s music in the past.
