Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa Join Forces For “Prisoner”

PRISONER

Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa

OVERALL RATING (????????)

A song belonging to Miley Cyrus will never be ordinary –neither will it ever be anything similar to “You Got the Best of Both Worlds.” The Hannah Montana ship has definitely sailed.

“Prisoner” is filled with the combination of settled disco sounds, a dash of punk, and just the right amount of pop that has us trapped in Miley and Dua’s jail of isolation, independence, and let’s not forget, FEMALE!

“Prisoner” includes specs of rock vocals mixed with Dua’s pop innocence, creating a Goldilocks environment in which Miley, as the big bad wolf, blows it down. One thing about Cyrus is that she is going to lace her visuals and lyrics with control, power, and feminist focuses.

Miley has used her image to embody versatility and the relevance of social issues in order to merge reality and musical dreamery. Dua on the other hand uses the sound of dark-pop and dance-filled sounds to pull you in without hesitation. Whether it’s simple singalong lyrics or a shimmy, it’s hard to ignore the bold sounds.

In just a week, the songbirds have garnered more than 20 million views on YouTube. With each new song Cyrus unleashes, she reminds us that her voice holds its own democracy that is not looking to be tamed. She creatively melts away stagnancy, predictability, and a perimeter of categorization. Although Miley has been active longer than Dua, Dua proves that she is able to not only hold her own weight but match Miley’s power. Where she goes next can only be sure to impress.
