Jhene Aiko decided to add her 2011 mixtape to streaming services.

I’m not going to lie, I never could’ve predicted that Jhene Aiko would be the star that she is today. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always known how talented she is, I just didn’t know if listeners would be ready for her style of music. Today, Jhene decided to rerelease one of the projects that really put her on the map, Sailing Souls.

On Instagram, Jhene had this to say about Sailing Souls:

“this mixtape was a pivotal moment for me. when i was 12 i was signed to a label, singing songs i had no real connection to. besides that, i had no real stories of my own to tell at 12 lol. then i took a break to focus on school. in my teens i was singing demo records and taking meetings.”

While a good chunk of the songs that you love from the original version of Sailing Souls is on this revamped version, there are a few songs that are missing (Notably “July” with Drake and “Growing Apart Too” with Kendrick Lamar). There are four additional tracks on the mixtape, though (“living room flow,” “mirrors,” “2 seconds,” and “snapped”).
