A glamorous pop explosion that turns the pursuit of fame into something sinister and provocative.
There are certain songs that feel like they were made to inject some energy directly into your bloodstream. “Super Lucrative Jukebox Baby” from Magdalene is absolutely one of them. The latest single from the alternative pop artist is loud, glamorous, unpredictable, and packed with enough adrenaline to turn up the temperature in any room today.
Produced by Slush Puppy, the track comes alive through hard-hitting drums, electrifying guitar play, and an explosive blend of indie rock and pop. Magdalene matches that production with vocals that refuse to stay in one place. She can sound completely untamed one second, then pull back and become almost hypnotic in her verses. That contrast gives the song plenty of personality.
What really makes “Super Lucrative Jukebox Baby” fascinating, though, is its subject matter. Magdalene tells the story of a female executive exploiting a young man who dreams of becoming a star, flipping the familiar Hollywood narrative of powerful men taking advantage of aspiring women. By reversing those roles, she forces us to look at the ugliness of exploitation from another angle, making the situation feel just as sinister, uncomfortable, and perverse.
All in all, “Super Lucrative Jukebox Baby” is deep, multifaceted, and full of energy. Check out the single below.
