Miley Cyrus is going all in for her next album.
Miley Cyrus has officially announced her tenth studio album, Bass Persuades, sharing the news with fans on Instagram. Alongside the announcement, Miley opened up about what music means to her, describing it as something “powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong.”
The post continued by explaining where the title came from: “Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me.” She then thanked her fans, writing, “Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album. Miley.”
In addition to announcing the album, Miley has officially and permanently dropped “Cyrus” from her stage name. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, confirmed the change in a new post:
“I told Miley yesterday that I felt good about her using only her first name. I mentioned Dolly and Cher. Thinking more and more about it… Elvis… Prince… and so on. It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues! Looking forward to the new album.”
Signs of the change had already started appearing. Miley recently graced the cover of the Los Angeles Times without her last name and updated her official website with the same surname-free image. What initially appeared to be a decision made specifically for this album cycle is now confirmed to be a permanent change to her professional identity.
As a fan of Miley’s since her Hannah Montana days, I’m always excited to hear that she’s dropping something new, and this one is right around the corner. I love how she describes the music in the announcement and what she says the title Bass Persuades means to her. Between the upcoming album and her bold new chapter as simply Miley, all signs point to an exciting era. I can’t wait.
