Rating: 4 out of 5.Damn, I wouldn’t mess with Pallavi when she’s behind the wheel.
The Bay Area’s newest rising star, Pallavi, also known as Fijiana, is the fresh breath of air we need in this evolving industry. She electrifies with her experimental style, blending jazz, hip-hop, pop, and even Indo-Afro beats to represent her roots. Bold in her music and passionate about advocating for the representation of Indo-Fijian culture, Pallavi isn’t afraid to authentically be herself. This authenticity shines through in her singles such as “Identity,” “Men With Money,” and “Sanskari Hoe.” Her latest single, “Crash the Car,” deals with the realization that your partner really isn’t worth it.
“Crash the Car” delves into the complexities of Pallavi’s toxic relationship and its aftermath. She devotes herself to someone, only to realize everything was a lie. Eventually, Pallavi removes the rose-colored glasses and sees that he only comes around for his own wants, never for her. As the song progresses, her emotions intensify, culminating in full rage as she declares she is no longer afraid. This track perfectly captures Pallavi’s emotional journey as she confronts the pain head-on and embraces vulnerability. With its booming alternative R&B and heavy rock melody, “Crash the Car” powerfully portrays her struggle and resilience.
