Normani Drops “Candy Paint”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Normani sounds badder than the Washington Wizards in this track.

Normani is a superstar. She dresses like one, collaborates with other superstars, and consistently produces music befitting a superstar. The main reason I believe people don’t yet see her as such is that she hasn’t released a full body of work.

Soon, the former Fifth Harmony member will gift us her debut album, Dopamine. A few weeks ago, she dropped a flaming hot single from it with Gunna called “1:59.” Today, she’s back with another scorching track, “Candy Paint.”

More Fire: Normani & Gunna Join Forces For “1:59”

In “Candy Paint,” Normani makes it clear that she’s ready to steal your man and isn’t going to apologize for it. Once she has him, she’ll do what she wants with him and then give him back, treating him like a Blockbuster video rental.

Normani’s spicy and, frankly, disrespectful lyrics are complemented by sly vocals, frisky instrumentation, and intoxicating melodies. If you’re dating someone, you might want to keep an eye out.

Normani and Camila Cabello were once in the same group, so all that sassiness was concentrated in one place.
