Rating: 4.5 out of 5.Roddy Ricch offers significant insight in “Survivor’s Remorse.”
One of the best quotes of this century came from Geno Smith. After beating the Denver Broncos two years ago, he told a reporter, “They tried to write me off, but I didn’t write back.” In my opinion, people are trying to write off Roddy Ricch, but I believe he’s still young and has a lot left in the tank.
Interestingly, Roddy Ricch has been pretty quiet these past two years. He’s featured on other people’s songs but hasn’t really dropped any solo records. Today, he made his return to the music scene with a new single called “Survivor’s Remorse,” and it kind of explains where he’s been all this time.
Imagine if I had a dollar for every time you say I fell off, I’d be a billionaire
Roddy Ricch in “Survivor’s Remorse”
I was blinded by survivor’s remorse, I was supposed to build, yeah
Still solid, still here
Still home, I done stepped on base.

In “Survivor’s Remorse,” Roddy Ricch keeps it 100 about where he is in his life right now. He brings up his baby mama drama, giving up lean, and losing several people close to him. He also addresses the numerous people who said he fell off.
“Survivor’s Remorse” borderline sounds like church music. First and foremost, the track is powered by a soulful backdrop featuring a woman with a voice that could move mountains. As for Roddy, he touches our souls with his dazzling style of singing. While it might not perfectly match his content, it sounds amazing to me.
Doesn’t it seem like rappers are defending themselves more in their music these days? I’m not sure how I feel about this trend.
