Smino Has That “Polynesian” Sauce

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

I’m good on the secret sauce…

If you ask me (B*tch, just ask me), Smino is one of the hottest rappers in the game today. No, I’m not saying one of the hottest alternative or underground rappers; I’m saying one of the hottest rappers, period. To me, he can spit bars with the best of them while, at the same time, he is creative as hell.

As we await the follow-up to his outstanding Luv 4 Rent project, Smino keeps us satisfied with the release of his new single, “Polynesian.”

“Polynesian” is one of those smooth hip-hop love songs that fall in the same category as “Splash Waterfalls” (BTW: “Splash Waterfalls” is a sick-ass name for a song). The track boasts soothing production with a nice tempo and enough knock to make an impact. Over this backdrop, Smino plays with a hectic flow, an infectious melody, and a cooler-than-a-cucumber delivery on his verses. As for lyrically, he talks like a n*gga who grabs more rebounds than Jalen Duren when it comes to snatching up other dudes’ exes.

Don’t leave your girl ’round Smino, folks.
