Rating: 4.5 out of 5.Who knew Lil Mosey had a gentle side to him?
To be completely honest with you, I stopped checking for Lil Mosey after he got jammed up a couple of years ago. Not because I felt he was a horrible person, but because it seemed like he stopped dropping music.
Lately, Lil Mosey has been on his grind, dropping single after single. In 2024 alone, he released “Thug Popstar,” “Back Down Road,” “Life Goes On,” and “One Too Many.” I’m guessing all of these songs will be on his upcoming album Love U Forever (Due date for August 8th).
Recently, he returned to the music scene with another track: “By Yourself.”
Got you by yourself, you don’t need nobody else (‘Body else)
Sometimes you make me feel like I’m chilling on a shelf (On a shelf)
Said you did your own thing, shorty I could tell (I could tell)
I know you independent so you don’t need no one else (Wow)Lil Mosey in “By Yourself”
In “By Yourself,” Lil Mosey applauds a woman he’s interested in for being an independent go-getter who’s living life freely. At the same time, he believes he has the means and the charm to bring out her romantic side. He’s not pushy about it, though.
There are some things I really like and don’t like about this track (I don’t hate or love anything). I really like the infectious melodic raps Mosey delivers; it’s a sound I think he can really excel with. I also appreciate that he’s unafraid to show off his gentle side and pays homage to independent women. However, his lyrics sound a bit elementary, and he does a little too much mumbling. Nonetheless, I think this track is a nice little bop.
