Rating: 3 out of 5.Does Megan Thee Stallion say yes to everything?
One thing women rappers have over their male counterparts is their remarkable marketability. From Cardi B and Ice Spice to Coi Leray, if I were a marketer with a substantial budget, I’d definitely consider collaborating with them to promote my products. The queen of marketable female rappers is undoubtedly Megan Thee Stallion. Just recently, I saw her in a damn Planet Fitness commercial, for Christ’s sake. I mention her marketing prowess because Megan has just released a remake of Queen’s classic “We Will Rock You.” It’s hard to believe she did this purely for fun without any financial incentive.
True Queen fans might be outraged by this remake of their classic “We Will Rock You” hit, but I don’t think it’s all that bad. While it retains the legendary hook, foot stomps, and claps, this version adds a lot of edge with its revamped instrumentation and Megan Thee Stallion’s fiery raps. As for Megan’s verses, they focus on shutting down haters and celebrating the success earned through hard work. If you approach it as a remake, it might frustrate you; however, if you see it as a fresh track with elements from a classic, you might hate it only a little.
Queen’s top 5 tracks are outshining anyone else’s top 5 tracks, right?
