Rating: 4.5 out of 5.I love that The Kid LAROI is leaning into his hip-hop side these days.
Right under all of your booger-filled noses, The Kid LAROI quietly dropped one of the best singles of the year with “GIRLS.” Quick story time: one night, I was at a pretty neutral club, and this track started booming over the speakers. Mid-bite of my cocktail shrimp and sip of my IPA, I thought, “This is a f**king hit!” Apparently, The Kid LAROI agrees because his latest single, “Slow It Down,” featuring Quavo, carries a very similar vibe.
In “Slow It Down,” The Kid LAROI and Quavo reflect on dealing with women who want to speed through relationships faster than Tyreek Hill. However, these two prefer to take things as slow as Kyle Anderson. On some real s**t, though, it doesn’t seem like they care much—they’re more focused on how they’re moving their bodies.
Just like “GIRLS,” “Slow It Down“ features a vintage ’90s hip-pop sound. The Kid LAROI delivers vocals that strike an outstanding balance between passion and slyness, while Quavo brings that cool kid energy, dropping bars with solid aggression and confidence. Surprisingly, the chemistry between the two rappers works really well.
The Kid LAROI is the best artist since Michael Jackson.
