Visionary director and filmmaker David Lynch has sadly passed away at the age of 78. Renowned for his surreal masterpieces like Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, Lynch left an indelible mark on the world of cinema. Beyond his contributions to film, Lynch was also an accomplished musician, and his passing has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes from artists across the music world.
The Weeknd, celebrated for his moody, atmospheric sound, paid tribute by posting a photo of Lynch on Instagram with the caption, “Everything is fine.” Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, who collaborated with Lynch on the soundtrack for Lost Highway, shared heartfelt words about the iconic director. “Truly saddened to hear of the passing of David Lynch. Working with him was like stepping into one of his dreamlike movies, and I’ll always treasure the moments I had to hear his vision firsthand. I urge anyone who loves cinema and television to explore everything he created. He was a true artist in every sense of the word.”

Questlove, drummer for The Roots, also expressed his heartfelt condolences for David Lynch, reflecting on how the legendary director profoundly influenced his own creative journey. “Lynch was the first human/creative that stressed the importance of not overworking, taking time out to breathe & meditate, and exploring creative avenues outside my comfort zone,” Questlove shared. “He was my guiding creative light for the Somethingtofoodabout book in 2016, took a liking to me, always invited me to his events and parties, and really emphasized the importance of self-care. Thank you.”
