Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” Surpasses 1 Million Units Sold in the US, Now Platinum-Eligible

To many, “GNX” is the best album from 2024.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Kendrick Lamar arguably had the best year of any rapper in history. He released what I believe is the song of the year, “Not Like Us,” performed at the Super Bowl, triumphed in a high-profile beef with Drake, and delivered one of the year’s best albums with GNX.

Today, it was announced that GNX has surpassed one million copies sold, making it eligible for platinum certification. While this comes as no surprise (every Kendrick album has gone platinum), it’s worth noting how significant this achievement is in an era where album sales have been steadily declining. It’s yet another testament to Kendrick’s unparalleled artistry and cultural impact.

I know sales aren’t the only metric of an artist’s influence, but they do show just how much demand there is for an artist. Kendrick has evolved into a household name, beloved by fans of all ages, races, and backgrounds. He’s become the ultimate A-list rapper, effortlessly commanding the respect and admiration of virtually every corner of the music world.
