Trippie Redd Flexes Versatility on “World Boss”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Trippie Redd just turned “World Boss” into a rap cosplay, hopping between Don Toliver, Travis Scott, and Playboi Carti like it’s a Mortal Kombat character select screen.

I ain’t gon’ hold you: Trippie Redd received one of the wildest strays I’ve seen today. In a leaked Young Thug phone call, the Atlanta rapper called GloRilla ugly and implied that lames like Trippie are the only ones who want her. Sometimes, the best way to respond to disrespect is with music—and today, Trippie returned with a new single called “World Boss.”

If Trippie is a world boss here, he’s like Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat—constantly morphing into different rappers. The song kicks off with an Ashanti sample from “Baby,” then spirals into a chaotic instrumental layered with elements reminiscent of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s “FRIED.” From there, Trippie cycles through voices like Don Toliver, Travis Scott, and even Playboi Carti, complete with Carti’s signature gagging-like delivery.

Lyrically, the track is all over the place—counting money, getting women to clap, and flexing nonstop. While the energy is undeniable, it leans heavily on mimicry rather than originality.

If Trippie had leaned more into his own style instead of borrowing so much from others, “World Boss” could’ve been a banger. As it stands, it’s an ambitious but messy display of versatility that feels more copycat than iconic.
