The artwork for Saba’s new album is flames!
Saba has been feeding us heavy this year — and at this point, some fans might need a musical detox. Earlier in the year, the Chicago rapper linked up with No I.D. to deliver From The Private Collection of Saba and No I.D., a soulful and introspective collaboration that reminded everyone of his lyrical depth. Now, just before dropping his upcoming album COFFEE!, Saba has returned with a brand-new single titled “Today Years Old.”
The track features an instrumental that’ll completely mess with your expectations. It’s built around an unorthodox tempo, soft piano loops, and mellow textures, creating a hazy, unpredictable vibe. Despite the unusual beat, Saba somehow manages to sound perfectly in control, rapping with intensity and precision as the energy builds throughout the track.
Lyrically, “Today Years Old” feels like Saba pulling pages from his diary — recounting chaotic past stories while reflecting on how far he’s come. He delivers every line with conviction, using flow switches and rhythmic pockets that only an artist as technically gifted as Saba could pull off.
Is “Today Years Old” the kind of song you’ll throw on at a party? Probably not. But it’s a brilliant display of craftsmanship and experimentation that builds excitement for COFFEE!
