A dark, cinematic trailer confirms 21 Savage’s long-awaited return.

21 Savage is officially back, y’all. After sparking speculation with a cryptic social media post hinting that “something” was coming this Friday, he finally confirmed the news: a brand-new album titled WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? dropping December 12th.

To kick off the rollout, 21 released a dark, cinematic trailer that sets the tone instantly. The visual flashes through intense imagery—snipers lining up targets, cars slamming to sudden stops, kids sprinting through the streets, and a rapid montage of gritty, chaotic scenes—all underscored by brooding, dramatic music. It reminds me of a street-inspired version of the infamous The Ring video.

For anyone keeping score, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STREETS? (or WHTTS) marks 21 Savage’s first solo album since american dream in 2024, a project that delivered standout tracks like “redrum,” “prove it,” and “nee nah.” With more than a year since his last full-length effort, anticipation is sky-high—and this new trailer only adds fuel to the fire.

Whatever 21 has planned, December 12th is looking like a major moment for the streets…and for hip-hop in general.
