It looks like Drake is channeling his inner Petty Wap again.

Drake has found himself at the center of another media moment after taking a subtle jab at Ebro Darden following the cancellation of Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97. The long-running radio show officially came to an end after 13 years on the air, with Ebro announcing the news via Instagram last Friday (Dec. 12).

In a video shared to his page, Ebro explained the circumstances surrounding the show’s cancellation. Shortly after, Toronto-based Instagram account KeepSixSolid reposted the clip — and Drake appeared in the comments, dropping a single axe emoji, a move many interpreted as celebratory or dismissive. The comment quickly gained attention, with fans speculating about lingering tension between the two.

By Sunday (Dec. 14), Ebro addressed Drake’s reaction directly, responding on X (formerly Twitter) by accusing the rapper of leaning conservative, grouping him alongside DJ Akademiks. “Drake is ‘right wing,’ and so is sAK,” Ebro wrote. The exchange escalated the following day when Ebro posted again, using an axe emoji versus an ice cube emoji, seemingly referencing Drake’s upcoming album Iceman. The back-and-forth continued, getting messier and messier as everything unfolded.

Ebro wasn’t the only Hot 97 voice to weigh in. Ebro in the Morning co-host Peter Rosenberg also responded on X, criticizing Drake’s behavior and suggesting it contributes to the artist’s ongoing backlash. While Drake has yet to directly address the comments beyond the emoji (and his alleged DM’s to Ebro), the situation adds another chapter to his increasingly public media feuds.
