Maino Confronts Controversy Head-On in “Rumors 2026”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

50 Cent has Maino sounding like he tapped back into his “Hi Hater” era.

Maino is back with “Rumors 2026,” a track that directly addresses the controversies that have kept his name circulating. From viral moments (Like when he choked that one white kid on MTV) to debates about his background, he leans into the narrative and confronts it head-on. He also takes shots at figures like Hassan Campbell, making it clear the song isn’t completely on some sweet reflective s**t.

“Rumors” is driven by a gritty, no-nonsense beat that matches the subject matter’s tone. It doesn’t break new ground (aka it sounds a little outdated), but it provides a solid backdrop for Maino to speak freely.

Maino’s delivery is laidback and rooted in old-school storytelling, with a noticeable sarcastic edge. Throughout his verses, he calls out fake tough guys, references past violence, and alludes to his experiences with women. While he doesn’t outright confirm everything, he comes close enough to make his point.

The track isn’t without flaws. The chorus lacks impact, and VLAD’s snippets feel a little too dramatic. Still, “Rumors 2026” does what it needs to do: keep Maino relevant and his momentum moving forward.
