Obed Padilla Embraces Healing and Hope in “Rainforest”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

I’m not saying “Rainforest” is therapy, but it definitely feels like it.

Chicano singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Obed Padilla continues to carve out his own lane with music that feels deeply personal and easy to connect with. Having grown up playing music in church and pulling influence from every environment he’s lived in, Padilla brings a grounded, human touch to his sound. Now, he kicks off 2026 with “Rainforest,” the first single from his upcoming EP Rodeo Clown, which is set to arrive this summer.

“Rainforest” plays like an emotional exhale. Built on a gentle, feel-good instrumental with light percussion and smooth textures, the track creates a warm atmosphere that’s hard to resist. Lyrically, Padilla leans into acceptance, reflecting on healing, love, and the courage it takes to imagine something new after loss.

Vocally, he keeps things subtle and intimate, almost blending into the production at times. That restraint works in his favor, making the occasional bursts of emotion hit harder. The chorus is especially strong, carrying a melody that sticks with you long after the song ends.

By the time it wraps up, “Rainforest” feels like peace in motion. And honestly, adding Dominic Fike to a remix wouldn’t hurt either.
