Today, D12 and Akon dropped new music… What in the name of 2004?
I’ll be honest: I did not expect D12 to make noise again in 2026. For me, I haven’t heard s**t from them since “My Band.” That said, they return with real force on “Tear It Down,” a new single featuring B-Real and Xzibit that sounds built to shake walls.
D12 remains one of hip-hop’s most memorable collectives, known for their great chemistry, sharp personalities, and ties to Eminem’s rise. Now, with a new album titled D12 Forever reportedly on the horizon, “Tear It Down” feels like a mission statement announcing they are not here for nostalgia only.
The production is bold, blending rock energy with hip-hop aggression in a way that feels stadium-sized. The hook is anthemic, loud, and clearly designed for live crowds to scream back.
Kuniva does much of the heavy lifting here, delivering a ferocious verse and a commanding presence. Meanwhile, Swifty McVay keeps the momentum rolling, Xzibit adds his usual gritty authority, and B-Real brings his instantly recognizable tone and punchy delivery. Together, the trio gives the record extra edge and personality.
Most reunion tracks feel like dusty photo albums. “Tear It Down” feels alive.
All in all, this is a hard-hitting return that should get longtime fans hyped and newcomers curious.
