Drake and Taylor Swift are sitting at a completely different lunch table from everyone else.
Drake continues adding to an already historic run. According to new projections, ICEMAN is expected to tie the all-time record for the most top 10 hits generated from a single album in Billboard Hot 100 history.
If the projections hold, the album will tie Taylor Swift’s Midnights, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT, and The Life of a Showgirl, with each project producing ten top-10 hits. That would place ICEMAN in extremely rare territory commercially.
The accomplishment adds to what has already been a massive week for Drake. As previously projected, he is also expected to become the first artist in Billboard 200 history to occupy the entire top three simultaneously with ICEMAN, MAID OF HONOUR, and HABIBTI. Out of the three projects, ICEMAN has clearly emerged as the dominant release commercially and culturally, largely because of its heavier focus on rapping and introspection.
Tracks like “Janice STFU” and “Make Them Cry” have helped fuel the album’s momentum. “Janice STFU” recently reached #1 across US Apple Music, Global Apple Music, and US Spotify, while “Make Them Cry” positioned Drake to potentially pass Michael Jackson in total Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles soon.
If everything holds, Drake will also pass Jay-Z for the most No. 1 albums by a rapper. That’s a major week, isn’t it?
