Grand Khai was cooking with this one.
Grand Khai has quietly been building momentum with releases that consistently lean into emotion, melody, and smooth island-inspired production. After dropping the strong single “1942” and following it up with the brief but focused Clarity EP, he returns with another emotionally driven record called “Vitals.”
Driven by silky afrobeats and island-inspired instrumentation, “Vitals” instantly feels like a mood. The production has warmth to it, but there’s also enough rhythm and bounce to keep the song feeling alive from beginning to end. It sounds like the kind of track you play while staring out of an airplane window, headed somewhere tropical after making terrible relationship decisions.
Vocally, Grand Khai glides across the instrumental with soothing tones and infectious melodies that naturally pull listeners into the song’s emotional core. Lyrically, “Vitals” centers around obsession, emotional dependence, intimacy, and the inability to fully let someone go.
What makes the track connect is how personal it feels. According to Grand Khai, the song came from a real emotional wound and was intentionally designed to feel both intimate and festival-ready. That balance works. “Vitals” feels vulnerable enough for headphones late at night, but catchy enough to move an actual crowd.
