LUCKI went against the modern MJ and held his own.
LUCKI’s Dr*gs R Bad is projected to debut at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 55.7K first-week units, including 8.5K pure album sales.
The timing of the release makes the numbers especially notable. LUCKI dropped the project during the same weekend that Drake released three separate projects, dominating much of the streaming conversation across multiple platforms. In that context, a top-10 debut for Dr*gs R Bad still qualifies as a major commercial win.
The situation almost feels similar to NBA games competing with the NFL on Christmas Day. Even when one side completely dominates the ratings, the other side can still walk away with a successful showing. That comparison fits here because Drake clearly controlled headlines throughout the weekend, yet LUCKI still generated strong engagement and impressive first-week projections.
The album includes guest appearances from Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, Veeze, and others. Sonically, the project leans heavily into hypnotic production and hazy flows that remain consistent throughout its runtime. I rock with the project.
